Avian Flu
Avian Flu is a type of influenza normally affecting birds. There is evidence that Avian Flu can occasionally infect human beings, usually following close contact with a sick bird or its droppings. While there have been very few human cases to date, physicians and scientists at the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are watching the Avian Flu outbreak carefully, in particular the H5N1 strain of the virus, which they consider a possible source of a future human influenza pandemic.

Working with national and international public health authorities, HTH Worldwide is monitoring the Avian Flu situation closely and maintains constant contact with HTH physicians and medical facilities across the globe. HTH provides members updated information on the spread of the disease, answers to Frequently Asked Questions and precautions for staying healthy while traveling or living in an affected area.
